Pre-Concert Talks

A Chance to Meet the Soloists and Conductors

Please note – we do not allow people to come into the hall after the pre-concert talk has started. We made this decision after feedback from the artists and the audience that latecomers are too disruptive. Please be in the auditorium by 6:25pm.

Before most concerts you can enjoy an optional informal pre-concert talk given by that evening’s performers. Sometimes we like to change the format a bit, however usually the conductor or the main soloist will be interviewed for about 20 minutes, and then there will be an opportunity for a Q&A session with the audience. It’s an opportunity to gain a privileged insight into the life of a professional musician, and into the performers’ approach to the works on the programme that evening.

If you would like to submit a question in advance, email it to us and we will give it to the interviewer who will take it into account in choosing the questions to ask.

Pre-concert talks start promptly at 6:30pm, and finish by 7pm, leaving you 30 minutes or so to refresh yourself at the bar/lounge prior to the concert itself.

No pre-concert talk on December 14th (Handel’s Messiah) becaase the concert starts at 6:30pm

The doors open 20 minutes before the pre-concert talk start time; you can sit anywhere for the talk however please move to the seat number on your ticket after the talk finishes. There is a sound system to enable everyone to hear every word!

You don’t have to attend the talk. You can just attend the concert if you want.
