Box Office Manager and Assistants Needed

HELP US TO PUT CONCERTS ON AT THE WESTMORLAND HALL

We are reliant on our lovely volunteers to help us run our concerts. We employ some staff but we could not do what we do without the help of our volunteers. We are looking to recruit a volunteer Box Office Manager and a couple of Assistants. In return for you offering up a few hours of your time, we can offer you access to our concerts, so you’d get to hear and see some of the world’s finest musicians FOR FREE.

We have been putting on concerts in Kendal for 53 years now, and as someone involved in our support functions you’d get the satisfaction of helping us develop further. You’d be an important part of the team that keep the concerts running, and would get to see how concert days work backstage, as well as front of house.

BOX OFFICE MANAGER ROLE

The BOX OFFICE MANAGER would be responsible for using our ticket issuing software (TicketSource), ensuring that our VIP seating is allocated and that the seating plans for each concert are set up and appropriate. On concert nights, the Box Office Manager would be responsible for running our pop-up box office in the foyer of the Westmorland Hall, interfacing with the public, selling standby tickets, processing returned tickets, etc. You would be supported by Assistants on concert nights. The pop-up box office closes a few minutes before the performance starts, so you would be able to attend all concerts – for FREE.

The time commitment would be about one hour per week during the season, and about three hours from 4:30 pm to 7:25 pm on concert nights. Full training will be provided, and the work is already proceduralised. The ongoing activities could be done from any location and in your own time, however, on concert nights the location and timing are fixed. A computer and printer can be provided if necessary. You need to be comfortable using software packages, email and a simple spreadsheet, and must be accurate, reliable and used to following procedures. Customer-facing skills and teamwork are needed on concert nights.

BOX OFFICE ASSISTANTS

The BOX OFFICE ASSISTANTS would help run the pop-up box office on concert nights, on a rota basis. The time commitment is from 6 pm to 7:25 pm on concert nights. We want to recruit several Assistants so that the duties can be shared on a rota basis. Full training and support will be provided. You need to be comfortable to be in a public-facing role, be methodical, friendly and motivated to be part of our concert night team.
