We
have to regard a low turnout for the Society’s Annual General Meeting as a vote
of confidence in the way the volunteer Trustees and Committee members work to
provide the concerts promoted by us. Capacity and enthusiastic audiences also
give us a strong hint too!
At
that meeting we said “thank you” and farewell to two Trustees, Harry Lowe
and Anna Ridding. Harry has been our Secretary for a number of years and
has very much kept us in order. We were pleased to welcome another husband and
wife team, Dorothy & Martin Grace who are succeeding Harry as
Secretaries.
During the year we were also delighted when Stella Foxcroft took over as
Orchestra Manager for the Lakeland Sinfonia. She has musical contacts in the
area and has already introduced new players.
We
do value comments from those who come to our concerts – if you pay the
Membership Fee you are a member of the Society. We do want to carry on
bringing varied and enjoyable programmes of live music to Kendal.
Parking
If
the barrier is down when you arrive at the concert venue, please take a ticket.
However when the concert is finished, you will find that the exit barrier is
raised and you will not have to pay – the Society has negotiated with
Lakes Leisure Kendal on this.
There are a limited number of “blue badge” spaces. We are sure you will agree
that we cannot expect extra places to be kept to the disadvantage of other
Leisure Centre users.
Over-flow parking is once again available at Kirkbie Kendal School and Murley
Moss – at your own risk. |
