A youthful
symphony by Saint-Saëns, written 27 years before his mighty ‘Organ’
Symphony and a suite of Fauré at his delightful best, provide the French
flavour for the evening. One of Mozart’s most popular Piano Concertos
and Mahler’s ‘Love Song to Alma’ complete an intriguing programme.
It will be
a pleasure to welcome Australian pianist Piers Lane
who has a flourishing international career which has taken him to more
than forty countries. In 2007 Piers was appointed Artistic Director of
the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and he has been five times
soloist at the BBC Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall.
