Chopin's piano concerto No. 1, written at the age of 19, was felt by the composer to be 'far too original' . His love for 'his ideal' - Konstancja Gladkowska, a young singer - is expressed quite magically in the inspired slow movement. It is a real treat to welcome back Martino Tirimo in his very busy international schedule of concerts and recordings.

The second of the youthful Schubert symphonies featured this season and two more pieces of incidental music by Sibelius — 'The Chase' and 'Lovesong' — complete an evening of melody and romance.
