An
evening of melody, Rossini’s scintillating overture, Tchaikovsky’s
serenade, full of memorable melodies, Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto,
one of his most haunting works , and Dvorak’s suite, full of energetic
music that asks you to dance, is a perfect up-beat way to end our
season.
Wyn Davies, a good friend of the Society and of the Orchestra, takes the
baton. He is constantly busy with engagements as Director of Music of
New Zealand Opera and Opera North here.
Daniel Bates is Principal Oboe of the City of London Sinfonia and the
Irish Chamber Orchestra. He is also an actor – you may have seen him as
Adrian Green in BBC TV’s ‘Casualty’.
