If listeners were looking for three
pieces of music that would provide quintessential 'English' romantic
music, then look no further than those on offer this evening.
Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow alone would fit the bill but his
friend Vaughan Williams' variations on a folk song and Finzi's sparkling
concerto add even more to an imaginative programme. Mark is Principal
Clarinettist of the Philharmonia Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.
